Welcome to Golden Nuggets and Silver Musings

2251778_sGolden Nuggets and Silver Musings is a new blog dedicated to sharing nuggets from God’s Word and tidbits, or musings, from more than forty-five years of my sojourn with the Lord. Since I began my surrendered journey at the age of twenty, adding the two will give you a clue to why I chose “silver musings” for my tidbits.

God’s Word is intended to be our guidebook through our journey on planet earth, as well as a directory to better understand God Himself–His thoughts and His ways. As we begin to know Him, God’s ways don’t seem all that mysterious, after all.

Twenty years ago, I became totally blind, while serving in a medical clinic in the jungle of West Africa. I learned to let the Word be the lamp unto my feet in a real way. (“Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” Ps. 119:105)

This year I’m embarking on all sorts of new adventures–scary ones for a blind, low-tech senior citizen. Today, I launched this new blog, later this week I’ll join the rest of the world’s population on Twitter, and later this month I’m going to really stick my toe in the ocean of current trend by launching a podcast. I’ll let you know just when you can check it out on I Tunes– “The Treasures of Darkness Podcast”. (If you ever wondered what life in Africa might look like, this is the podcast for you.)

My theme for  2015 is “Press On,” from the Scripture found in Philippians 3:14(NIV). “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

The prize for me this year is simply to put a smile on the face of God as He takes my hand to help me obey Him. I’d turned my thoughts toward a possible slowing down of activities as those years passed that golden marker; God had other ideas of what my “Golden Years” might look like!

Okay, I’m jumping in with both feet and expecting Father God to catch me, with arms opened wide and a smile on His face.

How about you? Any new goals or changes in your life for 2015?
